Episode 10
"Second Season of Life"
If the Walls Could Talk Podcast™
A struggling Chicago hospital did just about anything to admit patients. During the ’90s and 2000s, Edgewater Hospital performed hundreds of unnecessary heart surgeries on patients just to pad its bottom line. Multiple patients died. Hear what lengths the government went in order to stop the fraud and why many believe the owner got away with it. Former employees, patients, investigators, and urban explorers recount the tangled history of what happened within the walls of Chicago’s Edgewater Hospital.
Roger Ehmen served 6 years in prison for his role in Edgewater Hospital’s fraud scheme. Roger shares how he managed to turn that darkness into an opportunity and, in the process, found his calling. Plus hear the shocking updates about Peter Rogan, Dr. Cubria and other players in the scheme in this tell-all “where are they now” episode.
Learn more about Westside Health Authority and how you can support the non-profit organization.

If the Walls Could Talk Podcast™ – Episode 10: “Second Season of Life”
A lot has changed since Edgewater Hospital closed in 2001. Get caught up on what happened to Peter Rogan, Roger Ehmen, Dr. Cubria, Dr. Maynulet, and the other major players heard in If the Walls Could Talk Podcast.
Roger Ehmen received 6-1/2 years in prison for his role in the Edgewater Hospital fraud scheme. In Episode 10: “Second Season of Life”, he shares how he coped with prison life and found light in the darkness. After being incarcerated, he’s trying to make a difference and said that he has a new outlook on life.
Listen as Roger describes what happens when he runs into former Edgewater Hospital employees — the encounters aren’t always positive. He’ll also answer the often-asked question: have you ever heard from Peter Rogan? Plus, hear what one thing could have avoided the entire mess at Edgewater Hospital? Roger will explain.
Roger mentions the non-profit Westside Health Authority and how you can support others in need of a second chance. Their biggest need is money for CTA bus passes and non-perishable food items. Contact them directly at 773-786-0226.
Learn what happened to many of the doctors who pled guilty to charges in the Edgewater Hospital patients-for-kickback scheme. One of those docs was Dr. Ravi Barnabas. Somehow Dr. Ravi Barnabas was able to get his medical license back. We’ll explain his connection to the man accused of bribing disgraced Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.
Dr. Sriram (who went by Dr. Kris) was the Edgewater Hospital physician who claimed to treat an inordinate amount of patients (many who were dead). Dr. Sriram later opened Lake Forest Cardiology LLC. The feds allege that Dr. Sriram then opened a management company called Home Doctor’s Management to manage Lake Forest Cardiology. That company was allegedly run by his three children.
Dr. Sriram found himself in the news again in 2022 for tax issues that date back to his years at Edgewater Hospital…and the indictment doesn’t sound too good for Dr. Sriram. These latest charges occurred after the release of this podcast.
And just wait until you hear what else Dr. Sriram and the other doctors have been up to since Edgewater Hospital closed!
Dr. Rogelio Maynulet talks about his life post-Edgewater Hospital and how he learned to cope with the closing of a place he called “home”.
We’ll also follow up with that Urban Explorer who made more than 150 trips inside the abandoned hospital. Find out what happened to some of the hospital buildings and the hospital’s iconic hyperbaric chamber in Episode 10: “Second Season of Life”. It’s the final installment of If the Walls Could Talk Podcast.
Support If the Walls Could Talk Podcast on PATREON and hear this week’s Second Opinion episode. Stephani and Todd share more from Roger Ehmen as well as audio from their emotional ride home after they interviewed him in 2020. We’ll also discuss how and why that interview completely changed the entire focus of the podcast.
Patreon supporters will get an EXCLUSIVE follow-up interview with Roger Ehmen that was taped right after the podcast wrapped up. He talks candidly with Stephani and Todd about why he pled guilty, what he and Dr. Cubria talked about during Peter Rogan’s civil trial, what Roger considered a “pack of lies”, and so much more — compelling long-form interviews and stories that you’ll only hear on Patreon.
Also hear an EXCLUSIVE follow-up interview with Dr. Rogelio Maynulet that was taped right after the podcast wrapped up in 2021. He’ll explain why he considered If the Walls Could Talk Podcast to be “medicine”. Among other things, he’ll share whether he made peace with what Roger Ehmen and Peter Rogan did.
Todd details some bizarre parallels between him and Peter Rogan and shares some some screenshots he found of one former Edgewater doctor apparently trolling another doctor.
